Just as some digital organisations are more digital than others, the velocity in some organisations is higher than others. However, having a higher velocity is not necessarily better.

The velocity at which an organisation should operate depends on the nature of that particular organisation, and in some instances a lower velocity may be more beneficial.

It should also be noted that high velocity IT does not have to apply to the entirety of an organisation. For example, an organisation’s more dynamic customer- facing systems can be managed with a high velocity IT way of working, while its back- office legacy systems remain managed in a more traditional way.
